Ways to Help

  • Join a committee: The board is directed by advisory and support committees. Committees meet regularly and make decisions about the Festival. Contact spencer@stjpride.ca to learn more.

  • Volunteer for an event: Ready to help out during the Festival? The amazing volunteers that join us each year are essential to making St. John’s Pride possible. Sign up now!

  • Join the board of directors: Each year, our community elects members to sit on the board of directors and direct the execution of the Festival. This is a labour intensive role and requires approximately 4 hours of time each week during the year, and up to 20 hours per week leading up to the Festival.

What committees are part of St. John's Pride?

St. John's Pride is made up of several committees, each focusing on a different aspect of planning and delivering events. These include:

  • Arts Committee – Focuses on visual arts, installations, and creative expression within Pride.
  • Sports Committee – Organizes sports-related events and activities that promote inclusion and community.
  • Talent Committee – Responsible for curating and coordinating performance artists and entertainment.
  • Marketing Committee – Handles promotion, outreach, and communications across platforms.
  • Parade Committee – Plans and organizes the Pride parade, including logistics and participants.
  • Events Committee – Coordinates various Pride events and ensures smooth execution.
  • Fundraising Committee – Develops initiatives to raise funds and secure sponsorships.

How do I get involved?

You can volunteer, join a committee, host an event, perform at Pride, become a sponsor, or participate in festival activities. Start by emailing info@stjpride.ca or visiting our Get Involved section.

How do I sign up to volunteer?

Fill out the volunteer application form here. Once submitted, a coordinator will contact you with next steps, training dates, and role details. The form will open on social media and online closer to the festival.

Do I need training?

Yes. All volunteers receive orientation and role-specific training to ensure everyone feels confident, safe, and prepared.

What kinds of volunteer roles are available?

Roles vary depending on the time of year, but common opportunities include:

  • Parade marshals
  • Event support and setup/tear-down
  • Accessibility support
